An assembly comprising a pump rod and a threaded union of easy assemblage and capable of transmitting high torque. The pump rod, having a hollow body, activates rotary-type pumps. The motion that activates the pump is, in this case, produced by rotary movement by means of the application of a rotation moment or torque. The type of rod presently used and that this invention replaces for use in rotary pumping is under the API 11B Norm. One distinctive characteristic is the type of special threaded union that is used for coupling of the different rods. This union includes a nipple or threaded member in its outside surface in its two extremes called male - that are coupled respectively with a pair of members, each one of them threaded in its internal surface - called female. The union between the male and the female extremes is accomplished by means of the threaded surface of such extremes. Other characteristic of the assembly hollow rod - threaded union is greater resistance to uncoupling by counterrotation turn of the column of rods or "backspin".
