A method is provided for preparing a first part for assembly to form an aircraft component, by applying a shim to a first surface of the first-part, the method comprising the steps of placing the first surface of the part (4) adjacent to a second surface of a second part (6), inserting a solid shim (1) into a gap between the first and second surfaces and holding the shim in the inserted position, and subsequently introducing a liquid shim (7) through the first part (4) into a region between the first part (4) and the solid shim (1).

Procédé de préparation à l~assemblage d~une première pièce en vue de former un composant d~aéronef par application d~un élément de calage sur une première surface de la première pièce, le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à placer la première surface de la première pièce (4) en position adjacente à une deuxième surface d~une deuxième pièce (6), à insérer un élément de calage solide (1) dans un espace entre les première et deuxième surfaces et à maintenir l~élément de calage dans la position insérée, et à introduire ensuite un élément de calage liquide (7) à travers la première pièce (4) dans une région séparant la première pièce (4) et l~élément de calage solide (1).
