ABSTRACT In a hermetic motor compressor unit having an outer housing with a plurality of openings and an inner surface, and a motor and compressor in the outer housing, there is provided a terminal assembly for connecting a supply of electric current to the motor comprising a plurality of individual terminal units secured in the openings. Each of the terminal units further comprises a cup-shaped member hermetically sealed in a respective opening and having a flange thereon positioned internally of the housing and in abutment with the inner surface, a solitary conductor pin centrally positioned in the cup-shaped member and having an inner segment located inside the housing, an outer segment located outside the housing, and an intermediate segment between the inner and the outer segments, and insulation means filled between the cup-shaped member and the intermediate segment of the conductor pin for electrically insulating and hermetically sealing the pin from the cup-shaped member. Protection for the terminal assembly is provided by a protective cover placed over the terminal assembly and having an aperture in a top portion thereof, a stud upstanding from the outer housing and passing through the aperture in the cover, and a fastener external to the cover and engaged with the top portion of the stud whereby the protective cover is removably attached to the outer housing.
