A more reliable and fool-proof method and apparatus for assembling an article of assembly (e.g. with predetermined screw torque requirements) in which the article of assembly has multiple fastening locations. The method comprises holding the article of assembly fixed while providing at least two different types of targets fixed relative to the article of assembly that correspond to the individual fastening locations. Fasteners are fastened into the article of assembly at the fastening locations. When fastening is occurring at one of the fastening locations, one of the targets is being sensed. Based on the target sensed, a target output is generated that differentiates between different types of targets thereby indicating fastening location of the fastening tool. The electronic target output is used for electronic control such as for stopping a conveyor to keep the article of assembly at an assembly station until the fastening operations have been completed.
Méthode et appareil fiables et éprouvés pour assembler un objet qui fait partie d'un ensemble (par exemple avec des exigences prédéterminées quant à la force de torsion appliquée au vissage) et qui compte plusieurs emplacements de fixation. La méthode consiste à maintenir l'objet de l'ensemble en place tout en fournissant au moins deux types différents de cibles fixes par rapport à l'objet de l'ensemble qui correspondent aux emplacements de fixation. Des pièces de fixation sont fixées à l'article de l'ensemble aux emplacements de fixation. Au moment de la fixation à l'un des emplacements de fixation, une des cibles est détectée. Selon la cible détectée, une donnée de sortie sur celle-ci est générée et permet de différencier les différents types de cibles, indiquant ainsi l'emplacement de l'outil de fixation. La donnée de sortie électronique sur la cible est utilisée pour la commande électronique, par exemple pour arrêter un transporter afin de permettre à l'article de l'ensemble de rester à une station d'assemblage jusqu'à ce que les opérations de fixation soient terminées.
