ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cellular array processor, comprising: an array of processor cells, each processor cell including a single bit processor having input/ output means connected to neighboring cells, external control registers, internal register means, for data storage, processing means, control means, means to access the external memory, and configuration control means, said array of processor cells responding simultaneously to an external command to process the data in said internal register means, each said processor cell containing configuration bits within its internal register means, whose contents may be processed by the processing means and which when set into a true condition perform a controlling, or mask, function which causes the control means for that cellular processor to modify or condition its response to the external control commands.
