A new gene in the G-coupled protein receptor family is discribed that is induced by IL-9, thereby providing a therapeutic target in IL-9 mediated development of atopic allergy, asthma-related disorders and certain lymphomas or leukemias. A method for recombinantly producing the polypeptide encoded by the gene is disclosed. A method for identification and use of agonist and antagonists of GCR9 to treat atopic allergy, asthma-related disorders and certain lymphomas or leukemias is also included. A method for diagnosing susceptibility to, and assessing treatment of atopic allergy, asthma-related disorders and certain lymphomas or leukemias by measuring the level of GCR9 in biological samples using antibody specific for the GCR9 polypeptide or nucleic acid probes specific for GCR9 nucleic acids is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne un nouveau gène de la famille du récepteur couplé de protéine G (GCR9) induit par IL-9, ce qui constitue une cible thérapeutique dans le développement provoqué par IL-9 d'une allergie atopique, de maladies apparentées à l'asthme et de certains lymphomes ou de certaines leucémies. Elle concerne également un procédé servant à obtenir par recombinaison le polypeptide codé par ce gène. Elle concerne également un procédé servant à identifier et à mettre en application des agonistes et des antagonistes de GCR9 afin de traiter l'allergie atopique, des maladies apparentées à l'asthme et certains lymphomes ou certaines leucémies. Elle concerne, de plus, un procédé servant à diagnostiquer la susceptibilité à l'allergie atopique, à des maladies apparentées à l'asthme et à certains lymphomes ou à certaines leucémies, ainsi qu'à en évaluer le traitement, ce qui consiste à mesurer le niveau de GCR9 dans des spécimens biologiques au moyen d'un anticorps spécifique pour le polypeptide de GCR9 ou de sondes d'acides nucléiques spécifiques pour les acides nucléiques de GCR9.
