A new gene in the calcium-activated chloride channel family has been discovered that is induced by IL-9, thereby providing a therapeutic target in IL-9 mediated development of atopic allergy, asthma- related disorders and cystic fibrosis. A method for the identification and use of small molecule inhibitors of this gene and its products to treat these disorders has also been discovered. The invention also includes a method for diagnosing susceptibility to, and assessing treatment of atopic allergy, asthma-related disorders by measuring the level of gene expression in biologic samples using antibody specific for this protein.
L'invention porte sur un nouveau gène récemment découvert induit par l'IL-9, de la famille des canaux chloriques activés par le calcium, constituant de ce fait une cible thérapeutique dans le développement d'allergies atopiques, de troubles liés à l'asthme et de fibrose kystique dû à l'IL-9. L'invention porte également sur un procédé d'identification et d'utilisation de petites molécules inhibitrices de ce gène et de ses produits, pour traiter lesdits troubles. L'invention porte en outre sur un procédé permettant de diagnostiquer la susceptibilité aux allergies atopiques, aux troubles liés à l'asthme et à la fibrose cystique et d'en évaluer le traitement par mesure du niveau d'expression de gènes dans des échantillons biologiques à l'aide d'anticorps spécifiques de ladite protéine.
