Abstract of the Disclosure Compounds of the formula Image (1) in which R1 to R5 are hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atoms, at least one of the substituents R1 - R5 not being a hydrogen atom, and R6 to R10 are hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atoms, nitro, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy groups or optionally substituted phenyl or naphthyl groups, it being possible for up to 3 of the substituents R6 - R10 to be C1-C4-alkyl groups C1- C4- alkoxy groups or said aryl groups and for at most one of the substituents R6 - R10 to be a nitro group, and the number of halogen atoms and nitro groups R6 - R10, minus the number of C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy and aryl groups R6 - R10, being at least 1 less than the number of halogen atoms R1 to R5, and process for their preparation by acylating appropriate halogenated benzenes with appropriate substituted benzoyl halides in the presence of a catalyst at 0° to 230°C and reacting (fluorinating) the resulting benzophenones, if appropriate at 120°C to 280°C, with KF, RbF or CsF.
