A Bragg grating filter (10) is provided for use in an optical fiber (12) of an optical fiber system. The optical fiber includes a core (14) and a cladding (16). A plurality of Bragg grating segments are formed into the core of the optical fiber. Each grating element is defined by periodic variations in the refractive index. The period variations in the refractive index have a spatially asymmetric index of modulation, such that dispersion of the reflection at one end of the grating element can be decreased at the expense of increased dispersion of reflection at the other end of the grating element.

L'invention concerne un filtre de Bragg (10) destiné à être utilisé dans une fibre optique (12) d'un système à fibres optiques. La fibre optique comporte un coeur (14) et une gaine (16). Une pluralité de segments de réseau de Bragg se forment dans le coeur de la fibre optique. Chaque élément de réseau est défini par des variations périodiques de l'indice de réfraction. Ces variations périodiques de l'indice de réfraction comprennent un indice de modulation asymétrique, de sorte que la dispersion de la réflexion à une extrémité de l'élément de réseau puisse être réduite tandis que la dispersion de la réflexion augmente à l'autre extrémité de l'élément de réseau.
