ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An asymmetric semipermeable membrane of a homo- or co- polybenz-1,3-oxazine dione-(2,4). The new membranes are useful for desalting sea water and also separating or concentrating mixtures of substances in an alkaline or acid medium. They have a wider pH tolerance than hitherto used membranes besides possessing excellent pressure and temperature resistance.
