ABSTRACT An asymmetrical valve having a relatively short, highly convergent inlet and a longer, more gradually divergent outlet with an effective maximum diffuser angle of approximately 15 degrees and a minimum dump area ratio (Adump/Apipe) of approximately 75%. In one embodiment, the so-called venturi configuration is applied to a TWIN SEAL valve having an elongated hexagonal shaped plug aperture, to produce a substantial increase in flow capacity while reducing the size and cost of the plug operating mechanism.
