An arrangement for transferring electric power from one polyphase circuit to another without introducing harmonic distortions comprises a torque motor (14) and a rotating electric machine (12) having two sets of windings (18, 26). Each of the windings is connected to a respective one of the polyphase electric circuits. The two windings have the same number of magnetic poles and generate coincident rotating magnetic fields having the same direction of rotation. When torque is applied (e.g. to the shaft of a rotor carrying one of the windings) in the same direction as that of the rotating magnetic fields, electric power is transferred from the rotor-connected circuit to the stator- connected circuit. The invention provides apparatus (10) and method for controlling the frequency at which power is supplied to a polyphase load, or to manage instabilities in weak links between generating stations.
Dispositif de transfert de puissance électrique d'un circuit polyphasé à un autre sans production de distorsion harmonique, constitué d'un moteur couple (14) et d'une machine électrique rotative (12) présentant deux ensembles d'enroulements (18, 26). Chacun des enroulements est relié à l'un des circuits électriques polyphasés. Les deux enroulements présentent le même nombre de pôles magnétiques et produisent des champs magnétiques rotatifs coïncidents, ayant le même sens de rotation. Lorsque le couple est appliqué (par exemple à l'arbre ou à un rotor supportant l'un des enroulements) dans le même sens que celui des champs magnétiques rotatifs, la puissance électrique est transférée du circuit relié au rotor vers le circuit relié au stator. L'invention porte sur le système (10) et sur le procédé permettant de réguler la fréquence à laquelle la puissance électrique est fournie à une charge polyphasée, ou de gérer l'instabilité dans les liaisons faibles entre stations génératrices.
