An athermalized, polymer overclad integrated optical device such as multiplexer/demultiplexer (20) or a Mach-Zender interferometer in which thermally-induced shifts in channel wavelengths are minimized. The device includes a doped silica waveguide core (24) on a planar substrate (22) and a polymer overclad (30) having a negative variation in refractive index versus temperature dn/dT to inhibit shifts in the channel wavelengths.

L'invention porte sur un dispositf optique intégré gainé d'un polymère athermalisé tel qu'un multiplexeur/démultiplexeur (20) ou un interféromètre de Mach-Zender dans lequel des décalages induits thermiquement dans les longueurs d'onde des canaux sont réduits. Ce dispositif comprend une âme (24) de guide d'onde dopée en silice sur un substrat (22) plan et une gaine (20) polymère ayant une variation négative dans l'indice de réfraction par opposition à une température (dn/dT) afin d'inhiber les décalages dans les longueurs d'onde des canaux.
