ABSTRACT This invention pertains to an athletic abdomen protector and has particular application to the sport of ice hockey. The protector is designed to permit a deflector to effectively float over an athlete's abdomen whilst imparting to it some lateral stability. This floating feature enables an athlete such as a hockey player to perform normally without his dexterity being impeded by a tightly worn stomach shield. The deflector is substantially rectilinear in appearance and has rounded corners. Body attachment means is connected to the deflector and is adapted to permit the deflector to depend freely over the abdomen of an athlete.
