Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé dans lequel on utilise un cocatalyseur de traitement thermique d'atmosphère, on dissout ou disperse ce cocatalyseur dans une matière brute d'atmosphère de traitement thermique et dans l'atmosphère directement ou indirectement, et on disperse le cocatalyseur dans la matière d'atmosphère et/ou l'atmosphère sous la forme d'une phase gazeuse ou d'une fine dispersion (par exemple sous forme de granules) dans un appareil de traitement thermique ou un appareil de production de gaz de traitement thermique, pour que le cocatalyseur entre en contact avec la matière d'atmosphère et l'atmosphère sur une surface de contact maximum et vienne catalyser et activer l'atmosphère. Cette invention se rapporte en outre à un cocatalyseur de traitement thermique d'atmosphère pour matières métalliques et à un procédé de traitement thermique d'atmosphère.
