ABSTRACT An atmospheric-fluid indirect heat exchanger wherein the fluid to be cooled has a freezing temperature which may be higher than the expected lowest ambient tem- perature is provided with an auxiliary ambient air-second fluid heat exchanger wherein the second fluid has a freez- ing point lower than the expected lowest ambient tempera- ture to heat the ambient air to a temperature to prevent freezing of the fluid in the atmospheric-fluid indirect heat exchanger.
