Atomic channel change in a switched digital video (SDV) system. A set-top box (STB) sends join and leave message commands to a SDV device when requesting a channel change. If one of the IGMP message commands does not reach the SDV device, oversubscription can occur. A combined join and leave message ensures that a join command is performed only when a leave command is also performed. If the single message does not reach the SDV device, the STB resends the command.

La présente invention concerne un changement de chaîne atomique dans un système vidéo numérique (SDV). Un boîtier décodeur (STB) envoie des commandes de message d'accès et de déconnexion ("join and leave") à un dispositif SDV lors d'une demande de changement de chaîne. Si une des commandes de message IGMP (protocole de gestion de groupes Internet) n'atteint pas le dispositif SDV, une surallocation peut arriver. Un message combiné d'accès et de déconnexion permet d'assurer qu'une commande d'accès n'est exécutée que lorsqu'une commande de déconnexion est également exécutée. Si le message unique n'atteint pas le dispositif SDV, le STB envoie à nouveau la commande.
