An attachable transponder housing (16) for attachment to a tag assembly (17), which includes a body having a chamber containing a transponder. Integrally formed with the housing is a strap for enclosing a portion of the tag assembly (17) thereby attaching the housing to the tag assembly (17). Allows existing tag assemblies employing visual identification to also employ electronic identification.
