An audio/video surveillance recording system comprising both units having a video camera and units having a dummy lens is disclosed. The use of a dummy lens rather than tinted or mirrored glass on the camera housing provides a greater amount of light to the camera. A unique mounting assembly which lets the dummy units be substituted for the live units without removing the mounting brackets is also disclosed. The system uses weatherproof microphones manufactured using a novel plastic dipping and coating method.
