ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventional grain augers include an elongated, tubular casing containing a rotatable shaft with a helical blade thereon for moving grain from an open inlet end to an outlet tube perpendicular to the closed outlet end of the casing. A more efficient device includes an inlet tube on the inlet end of the casing with a larger diameter than the latter, and auger flights on the inlet tube end of the shaft of larger diameter but smaller pitch than the flights in the casing. Such an arrangement results in reduced feed speed, less turbulence and generally improved feeding.
