A method for authenticating a textile product wherein a colorless composition is applied to at least one portion of at least one thread of the textile product. The composition includes one of a pair of colorformer (A, B) and an activator (22) which react when mixed to produce a spectral response (23). The textile product is authenticated as genuine by applying the other of the pair of colorformer and activator to at least one portion of the at least one thread to produce the spectral response. The textile product may be a thread (21) or a woven label (20).

L'invention concerne un procédé d'authentification d'un produit textile, le procédé consistant à appliquer une composition incolore sur au moins une partie d'au moins un fil du produit textile. La composition comprend un élément sélectionné dans une paire formée par une substance chromogène (A, B) et un activateur (22) qui réagissent lorsqu'ils sont mélangés pour produire une réponse spectrale (23). On authentifie le produit textile en appliquant le deuxième élément de la paire formée par la substance chromogène et l'activateur sur au moins une partie du fil pour produire la réponse spectrale. Le produit textile peut être un fil (21) ou une étiquette tissée (20).
