Authentication method for authenticating a mobile node to a packet data network, in which a shared secret for both the mobile node and the packet data network is arranged by using a shared secret of the mobile node and a telecommunications network authentication centre. In the method, the mobile node sends its subscriber identity to the packet data network together with a replay attack protector. The packet data network obtains authentication triplets, forms a session key using them, and sends back to the mobile node challenges and a cryptographic authenticator made by using the session key. The mobile node can then form the rest of the authentication triplets using the challenges and then form the session key. With the session key, the mobile node can check the validity of the cryptographic authenticator. If the authenticator is correct, the mobile node sends a cryptographic response formed using the session key to the packet data network for authenticating itself to the packet data network.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'authentication servant à authentifier un noeud mobile auprès d'un réseau de transmission de données par paquets. Un secret partagé par le noeud mobile et le réseau de transmission de données par paquets est mis en oeuvre par l'utilisation d'un secret partagé d'un centre d'authentication d'un noeud mobile et d'un réseau de transmission de télécommmunications. Dans ledit procédé, le noeud mobile transmet au réseau de transmission de données par paquets son identité d'abonné accompagnée d'un protecteur d'attaque en réécoute. Le réseau de transmission de données par paquets reçoit des triplets d'authentication, les utilise pour former une clé de session, et retourne au noeud mobile des interventions et un authentificateur cryptographique créés au moyen de la clé de session. Le noeud mobile peut alors former le reste des triplets d'authentication en utilisant les interventions avant de former la clé de session. Le noeud mobile peut utiliser la clé de session pour vérifier la validité de l'authentificateur cryptographique. Si l'authentificateur est valable, le noeud mobile utilise la clé de session pour envoyer une réponse cryptographique formée au réseau de transmission de données par paquets afin de s'identifier auprès de ce dernier.
