Where each of switches opposed to each other detects optical-signal shutoff or optical-signal deterioration on the reception side of its port, the switch brings a link of the port down and outputs an auto-negotiation configuration code, as a LAN signal. Upon receiving the LAN signal transmitted from the switch, a repeating-transmission apparatus transmits the transmitted signal to an auto-negotiation monitor. The auto-negotiation monitor performs code analysis for the transmitted LAN signal. Where the auto-negotiation monitor detects that the transmitted LAN signal is the auto--negotiation configuration code, it notifies a monitor apparatus that "The switch detects a failure and the link is down.", as an alarm.
Si chacun des interrupteurs opposés l'un par rapport à l'autre détecte une coupure du signal optique ou une détérioration du signal optique du côté réception de son port, l'interrupteur coupe une liaison du port et transmet un code de configuration d'auto-négociation en tant que signal LAN. Sur réception du signal LAN transmis par l'interrupteur, un appareil de répétition de transmission transmet le signal transmis à un appareil de contrôle à auto-négociation. L'appareil de contrôle analyse le code du signal LAN transmis. Si l'appareil de contrôle à auto-négociation détecte que le signal LAN transmis est le code de configuration d'auto-négociation, il indique à un appareil de contrôle sous forme d'alarme que « l'interrupteur détecte une anomalie et que la liaison est coupée ».
