ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Each slotted dewatering device is provided, as viewed in the direction of travel of the associated twin wire former, with a rear wall having two horizontally extending wall parts, that is, two wall parts defining upper and lower wall parts which extend in the cross-machine direction. The upper wall part is stationary during operation of the slotted dewatering device, and the lower wall part confronting the upper wire of the twin wire former, is constructed and arranged as a diaphragm which partially overlaps and can be moved relative to the upper wall part. This lower wall part is adjustable displaceable towards and away from the upper wire of the twin wire former. In each momentarily adjusted position of the lower wall part the latter is elastically supported in the direction of the upper wire at the stationary upper wall part. A positioning motor arranged between the upper and lower wall parts serves to displace and elastically support the lower wall part. A plurality of these slotted dewatering devices can be provided at the dewatering section of the twin wire former of a papermaking machine. P10260
