A discharge system for connection to a downpipe of a building has an outlet channel for water to be discharged at a distance from the building. The outlet pipe is hinged between a storage position snug against a downpipe or a vertical side of the building and a discharge position in which it extends outwardly from the building. The discharge pipe moves between its storage and discharge positions automatically. It is spring biassed into its storage position but when water flows in the downpipe a reservoir of the system fills and spring bias is overcome to lower the discharge pipe into its discharge position.
