A method and apparatus for analyzing the closed captioned aspect of a video signal for specific undesirable words or phrases and then muting the audio portion of those words or phrases while not affecting the video portion therein while simultaneously modifying the closed captioned signal in order to display an acceptable word or phrase.

Procédé et dispositif qui permettent d'analyser l'aspect sous-titrage codé d'un signal vidéo à la recherche de mots ou de phrases indésirables spécifiques, puis de réduire le niveau sonore de la partie audio desdits mots ou phrases, sans affecter la partie vidéo et tout en modifiant simultanément le signal sous-titré codé, de façon à afficher un mot ou une phrase acceptable.
