An automated system and method for identifying agents capable of eliciting a phenotypic change in a cell-type. The method includes the steps of providing a statistical design including generic factor names, factor levels and experimental runs, and utilizing a software program to generate a computer representation of the statistical design by automatically mapping the identities of the agents to the generic factor names, concentrations or amounts of the agents to the factor levels, and the locations of the receptacles to the experimental runs. The method also includes placing different mixtures of single agents, such as peptones, into receptacles in the array based on the computer representation of the statistical design, contacting the placed mixtures with cells, acquiring experimental data from the contacted cells, and utilizing a processor including an algorithm for comparing the acquired data with the statistical design to identify peptone combinations and concentrations that optimize cell culture conditions.
L'invention concerne un système automatisé et un procédé permettant d'identifier des agents capables de provoquer un changement phénotypique dans un type cellulaire. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant à produire un modèle statistique comprenant des noms de facteurs génériques, des niveaux de facteurs, et des cycles expérimentaux, et à utiliser un programme pour créer une représentation informatique du modèle statistique en établissant automatiquement une correspondance entre les identités des agents et les noms des facteurs génériques, entre les concentrations ou les quantités d'agents et les niveaux de facteurs, et entre les emplacements des réceptacles et les cycles expérimentaux. Ce procédé consiste en outre à placer différents mélanges d'agents individuels, tels que des peptones, dans les réceptacles d'un ensemble ordonné conformément à la représentation informatique du modèle statistique, à mettre les mélanges ainsi placés en contact avec des cellules, à acquérir des données expérimentales à partir des cellules mises en contact avec les mélanges, et à utiliser un processeur exécutant un algorithme pour comparer les données acquises avec le modèle statistique afin d'identifier les combinaisons et les concentrations de peptones permettant d'optimaliser les conditions de culture cellulaire.
