A method and apparatus facilitate the retirement of interactive applications in a manner associated with an external event and a program state of the interactive application. A broadcaster (110) transmits an interactive application (170) that includes a plurality of retirement instructions associated with external events and internal program states of the interactive application (170). A broadcast receiver (140) receives an interactive application (170), stores the included retirement instructions, and executes the interactive application (170) concurrently with the display of an associated television program. The broadcast receiver (140) monitors the broadcast signal (180) for events indicating that the executing interactive application (170) is no longer appropriate for the current television program. Upon detection of such an event, the broadcast receiver (140) retrieves the stored instructions, and retires the interactive application (170) in a manner appropriate for both the detected external event and the internal program state of the interactive application (170), according to the stored instructions.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif destinés à faciliter le retrait d'applications interactives en fonction d'un événement externe et d'un état de programme de l'application interactive. Un radiodiffuseur émet une application interactive comprenant une pluralité d'instructions de retrait associées à des événements externes et des états de programme internes de l'application interactive. Un récepteur de radiodiffusion reçoit cette application interactive, stocke les instructions de retrait associées et exécute l'application interactive pendant la diffusion d'un programme de télévision correspondant.
