ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automatic anti-fall device, for use on a lifting machine driven by a motor and having a bearer cable for attachment of a load to be lifted, comprising a carrier structure to which the load is attached, a bearer member pivoted to the carrier structure and connected to the bearer cable through connecting means,an auxiliary safety cable positioned vertically and passing between cable clamping means,the cable clamping means comprising jaws control means for the jaws which are pivotably mounted on the bearer member and spring means urging the jaws into clamping condition. A lever is pivotably mounted on the carrier structure and coupled to the connecting means through coupling means. Resilient linking means connect the lever to the the jaw control means for holding the jaws open when load is applied to the carrier structure. A first control for the motor of the lifting machine, the first control being mounted on the carrier structure and positioned in relation to the bearer member such that, upon occurence of a predetermined extent of vertical pivoting movement of the bearer member under excessive load as well as when the load is transferred to the auxiliary cable, the bearer member actuates the first control to stop the motor. Resilient means connected to the carrier structure and to the bearer member oppose vertical pivoting movement of the bearer member. A second control for the motor of the lifting machine, the second control being mounted on the carrier structure and positioned in relation to an end portion of the connecting means such that, if the load decreases under a predetermined value, the connecting means actuates the second control to stop the motor.
