ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides an automatic arpeggio apparatus for an electronic musical instrument. A pulse generator repeatedly generates pulses upon depression of a key which are applied to a timing pulse generator. A memory circuit generates musical scale digital signals in response to timing pulses obtained from the timing pulse generator and the digital signals are fed to a D-A converter which converts them into analogue signals. A calculation circuit then adds to or subtracts from these analogue singnals a voltage at a level corresponding to a key depressed and a voltage controlled type oscillator produces an output frequency dependent upon the output voltage of the calculation circuit. In this manner, depression of a signal key causes the appropriate arpeggio to be generated.
