An automatic bagging machine and a method of placing articles in a bag formed by the machine which is also capable of sealing the bag is described The machine comprises a sealer and perforator capable of forming bags from a folded sheet while maintaining a top end portion of the bags attached to the folded seam until a filled bag is discharged to a transfer mechanism which positions the bag into a sealing station. The sealing station gathers the upper end portion of the bag and twists a neck portion which is heat-fused by a pin sealer.
