AUTOMATIC BAGGING MACHINE WITH BAG STABILIZING DISCHARGE MECHANISM Abstract of the Disclosure An automatic bagging machine for positioning articles in a bag and conveying the bag from the machine in a controlled stabilized manner. The machine comprises a collector for receiving a predetermined number of articles to be placed in a single bag. A releasable gate is provided under the collector. A plurality of collapsed bags, which have an open top end, are supported adjacent the releasable gate. An opener flap is provided to draw open the mouth opening of an outermost one of the bags to position its open end under the releasable gate. The releasable gate discharges the predetermined number of articles in the bag. A control gate and a pusher element are provided under the collector to maintain the bag with the articles therein in an upright manner and to move the bag into a bag engaging device which engages the bag under the open top end and maintains the bag upright.
