ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A buffing machine comprises a rotatable wheel and a work piece supprting spindle movable past the buffing wheel so that a work piece carried by the spindle is engaged by the wheel to perform the buffing operation. The machine includes a conveyor having a direction of travel disposed at a selected angle and distance relative to the axis of rotation of the buffing wheel, the spindle being mounted on the conveyor, a work piece adaptor for mounting a work piece and means mounting the adaptor on the spindle whereby the work piece and adaptor are rotated by the buff wheel whilst the work piece is buffed by the buffing wheel.
