AUTOMATIC CLOSING DEVICE FOR A PATIO SCREEN DOOR ABSTRACT A device for automatically closing a patio screen door comprises a tubular sheath in the form of a molding equipped at its top end with a vertical pulley rotatably mounted thereto and which extends substantially parallel to the screen door. The sheath is adhesively mounted to the inner frame of the wall defining the opening for the patio doors at the side thereof onto which abuts the screen door, when closed. A cable which engages the pulley is adapted to be fixed at one of its ends to the upper frame of the screen door and at its other end to a weight which suspends from the pulley within the sheath. Therefore, the opening of the screen causes the weight to raise, whereby, upon releasing the open screen door, the weight automatically causes the screen door to displace towards its closed position. The weight includes sections which can be severed and thus removed therefrom to lower its mass if the user wishes to reduce the speed at which the screen door closes. - 11 -
