- 10 - AUTOMATIC CLOSING DEVICE FOR SLIDING SCREEN DOOR ABSTRACT An Automatic closing device for displacing a sliding element, such as a sliding screen door, when displaced from an initial position. The device comprises a spiral spring which is guidingly disposed in a tubular housing. The tension of the housing is adjustable by a bolt accessible from an end of the housing. A cord exits the opposite end of the housing, and a portion of the cord is retained between two sets of pulleys located within the housing and secured to an end of the spring. The free end portion that exits the housing is attachable to a sliding element, and when applied an outward pulling force when the sliding element is displaced, a tension force is transmitted to the spring to load the spring whereby, when the sliding element is released, the spring load will draw back the cord and displace the sliding element back to its initial position.
