ABSTRACT An automatically operated color sorting apparatus in a cullet recovery system comprises a plurality of pallets (35) for carrying a cullet, a cullet feeding device (27, 31) for feeding one cullet to be sorted to one of the pallets (35), at least one of first conveyer (34) for conveying the pallets (35), at least one of color discriminating device (44) for discriminating the color of the cullet to be sorted, at least one of removing device (47) for removing the cullet from the pallet (35) in accordance with the discriminated result from the color discriminating device (44), and at least one of second conveyer (46) for conveying the cullet removed from the pallet (35).
