An automation server (110) interfaces with broadcast scheduling systems of various types to automatically synchronize interactive applications relative to broadcast programs, such as television shows and commercials, so as to maintain the appropriate interactive application, with respect to the current broadcast program. Therefore the television shows which have an associated interactive application, that are segmented by commercials (which may have their own interactive applications) may have their interactive applications displayed while the television show is on, but not during the commercials. Any state information is maintained that has been created during execution of the interactive application. The automation server (108) includes multiple channel interfaces (402), each having a translator (502) and an event manager (504). The translator (502) translates native control signals from the scheduling system (106) into a fixed set of atomic commands which represent the lifecycle behavior of a broadcast program. The event manager (504) receives these atomic commands and uses them to determine the appropriate state for any interactive application associated with the broadcast program.
Un serveur automatique (110) crée une interface avec des systèmes de programmation d'émissions de différents types afin de synchroniser automatiquement les applications interactives concernant des programmes diffusés, tels que des émissions et des publicités télévisuelles, de manière à conserver l'application interactive appropriée par rapport au programme en cours de diffusion. Ceci permet d'afficher les applications interactives d'émissions de télévision interrompues par des publicités (qui peuvent elles-mêmes posséder leurs propres applications interactives), pendant le déroulement de ces émissions, mais non pendant les intermèdes publicitaires. Ceci permet également de conserver toute information d'état créée pendant l'exécution de l'application interactive. Le serveur automatique (108) comprend des interfaces multiples (402) de canaux possédant chacune un traducteur (502) et un gestionnaire d'événements (504). Le traducteur (502) traduit des signaux de commande d'origine émis par le système de programmation (106) en un ensemble fixe de commandes atomiques représentant le comportement du cycle de vie d'un programme diffusé. Le gestionnaire d'événements (504) reçoit ces commandes atomiques et les utilise afin de déterminer l'état approprié pour toute application interactive associée au programme diffusé.
