AUTOMATIC CORRECTION CIRCUIT FOR THE COLOR BALANCE OF A COLOR TELEVISION SIGNAL ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A correction circuit previously provided with manually entered correction signals corrects the color balance of a color television signal. For this invention, the correction signals are automatic- ally derived by first deriving the color difference signals and the luminance signal from the corrected color television signal. The color difference signals are then divided by the luminance sig- nals and applied to a logic circuit which furnishes a saturation control signal only when the amplitudes of these signals are in- dicative of a color saturation less than approximately 20%. Further the luminance signal after clamping and low-pass filtering is ap- plied to comparator circuits which divide them into three bright- ness ranges. For each brightness range a switch control signal is furnished if the saturation control signal is present which causes the first and second normalized color difference signals then pres- ent to he integrated and the so-integrated signals to be applied to corresponding inputs of the correction circuit. -1-
