ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automatic cutoff and tester apparatus for a gas supply utilizes a diaphragm powered main valve between a gas inlet and a gas outlet. In the event of an earthquake, etc., a weight is dislodged from a magnet to control via a lever assembly a sensor valve to release gas pressure from a chamber containing the diaphragm thereby to close the main valve. Manual resetting returns the weight to a position in which it can be attracted to the magnet and opens a resetting valve to permit a small supply of gas to the chamber for testing purposes. If this gas does not leak away pressure in the chamber rises to control the diaphragm to open the main valve.
