The invention relates to a device for detecting a surgical tool on an image, said surgical tool passing through an incision in the skin (14) or an organ of a patient. The device includes: a means (28) for storing the shape parameters of the surgical tool; a means (28) for determining the position of the projection of the incision in the plane of the image; and a means (28) for determining the characteristic points of the projection of the surgical tool on the image from the shape parameters and the position of the projection of the incision.

L'invention concerne un dispositif de détection d'un outil chirurgical sur une image, ledit outil chirurgical passant par une incision pratiquée au niveau de la peau (14) ou d'un organe d'un patient, le dispositif comprenant un moyen de mémorisation (28) de paramètres de forme de l'outil chirurgical; un moyen de détermination (28) de la position de la projection de l'incision dans le plan de l'image; et un moyen de détermination (28) de points caractéristiques de la projection de l'outil chirurgical sur l'image à partir des paramètres de forme et de la position de la projection de l'incision.
