In a computer system, a system for automatically disposing of waiting calls based on an entry in a caller information database. The invention includes a telephone interface that receives data from an ADSI network and is also connected to a regular telephone. When call waiting caller ID information is received by the telephone interface, a database look-up is performed. Information in the database entry directs the system to automatically dispose of the waiting call through signals sent to the ADSI network. Alternatively, a disposal option for the waiting call is to display on the computer screen a simulated ADSI phone display that allows the user to manually dispose of the waiting call.
