An automatic gain control apparatus comprises a variable gain amplifier 5 amplifying a signal with an amplification factor and a gain controller 6 controlling the amplification factor of the variable gain amplifier 5. A gain limiter 7 is provided for restricting the magnitude of said amplification factor within a predetermined range. The amplification factor therefore does not vary largely, even immediately after the input signal level is suddenly changed due to switching of transmitter antenna or carrier frequency. Thus, it becomes possible to quickly respond to the change of input signal without requiring a large dynamic range in the circuit following the automatic gain control apparatus.
L'invention est un appareil à commande de gain automatique qui est constitué d'un amplificateur à gain variable 5 servant à amplifier un signal avec un certain facteur d'amplification, et d'un contrôleur de gain (6) servant à contrôler le facteur d'amplification d'un amplificateur à gain variable 5. Un limiteur de gain 7 est utilisé pour restreindre ce facteur d'amplification à une gamme prédéterminée. Le facteur d'amplification ne peut donc varier beaucoup, même quand le niveau du signal d'entrée varie brusquement par suite d'une commutation d'antennes émettrices ou de fréquences de porteuse. Il devient donc possible de répondre rapidement aux variations du signal d'entrée sans qu'une grande dynamique ne soit nécessaire dans le circuit qui est en aval de l'appareil à commande de gain automatique de l'invention.
