Abstract of the Disclosure: In a control method wherein an automatic inspection device is installed in a field of alignment holes, and the location of the device is shifted by making use of the holes, a method of controlling the automatic inspection device characterized in that addresses are assigned to the respective alignment holes; that the location of said device is indicated on an objective counter in terms of the address, while a preset counter for instructing the shifting direction of said device in terms of the address is comprised; that when instructions are given to said preset counter, they are compared with the contents of said objective counter, whereupon said device is shifted in the direction of reducing a difference resultant from the comparison; and that said device is provided with a detector for detection of an obstacle so as to shift said device while avoiding the obstacle. - 1 -
