The invention concerns an automatic method and installation for multiple plasma jet welding of two metal parts, such as the edges of a tube. The two parts to be welded are assembled along a joint plane. The method consists in generating a first plasma jet exhibiting a first linear welding energy (.DELTA.E1) with positive and non null value; generating substantially simultaneously a second plasma jet exhibiting a second positive and non null linear welding energy (.DELTA.E2); optionally generating a third plasma jet exhibiting a third positive and non null linear welding energy (.DELTA.E3); and welding the two parts, one with the other, by subjecting the joint plane to be welded to said first, second and, optionally, third plasma jets. The invention also concerns the use of said method and installation for making metal tubes.
Procédé et installation automatique de soudage par plasma de deux parties métalliques, tels les bords d'un tube. Les deux parties à souder sont réunies selon un plan de joint. On génère alors un premier jet de plasma ayant une première énergie linéaire de soudage (.DELTA.E1) de valeur positive et non nulle; on génère, sensiblement simultanément au premier jet de plasma, un deuxième jet de plasma ayant une deuxième énergie linéaire de soudage (.DELTA.E2) positive et non nulle; on génère éventuellement un troisième jet de plasma ayant une troisième énergie linéaire de soudage (.DELTA.E3) positive et non nulle; et on opère un soudage des deux parties, l'une avec l'autre, en soumettant le plan de joint à souder auxdits premier, deuxième et, éventuellement, troisième jets de plasma; et leur utilisation pour la fabrication de tubes métalliques.
