ABSTRACT The present invention is directed to an improved key cutting device including a powerized cutting or milling wheel. A vise assembly is adapted to hold in predetermined relative position a plurality, e. g. two, key blanks, as well as a properly cut key to be duplicated. The apparatus includes mechanism for relatively moving the vise assembly adjacent the cutting wheel so as to present the key blanks against the cutting surface of the wheel, the pattern of the cut key serving to guide the movements of the vise assembly so as to form in the blanks a pattern identical to the pattern of the cut key. The key cutting machine is characterized in that two blanks are simultaneously cut by engagement with spaced portions of the periphery of a single cutting wheel, and by the inclusion of means for compensating for wear and dulling of the cutting wheel.
