A method (1100), system (1200), and apparatus (101) of determining optimal viewing planes for cardiac image acquisition, wherein the method includes acquiring a set of sagittal, axial, and coronal images of a heart, where the axial and coronal images intersect with the sagittal image orthogonally, and where the heart has a natural axis and a left ventricle ("LV") with a bloodpool, a bloodpool border, and an apex (1110). The method also includes making a map of the bloodpool border (1140), and using the map to create a full coordinate frame oriented along the natural axis (1160)

L'invention porte sur un procédé (1100), un système (1200), et un appareil (101) de détermination des plans de vision optimaux en vue de l'acquisition d'images cardiaques. Ledit procédé consiste à acquérir un ensemble d'images sagittales, axiales, et coronales du coeur en faisant se couper les images axiales et coronales à angle droit avec l'image sagittale, le coeur se présentant alors avec un axe naturel, un ventricule gauche (LV) et son pool sanguin, une bordure de pool sanguin, et un sommet (1110). Le procédé permet par ailleurs d'établir une carte des bordure du pool sanguin (1140), utilisable pour créer un cadre complet de coordonnées orientées selon l'axe naturel (1160).
