ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automatic power reduction circuit having a single silicon controlled rectifier in one leg of a bridge rectifier which is gated off when a capacitor reaches a predetermined voltage level so as to switch automatically the bridge output from a full-wave rectifier-to a half-wave rectifier. An auxiliary silicon controlled rectifier is also provided to facilitate the quick discharge of the capacitor so as to reset the circuit to its initial state, thereby allowing fast, repeated operations and preventing malfunctioning upon a loss of power.
