Abstract of the Disclosure An actuatable closed loop homing means for use in an automatic sewing machine includes a position indicating device for reporting the position of a work holder relative to a predetermined home position and circuitry responsive to such device for automatically positioning the work holder at the home position such that the final movement always takes place in the same direction. This feature allows an automatic sewing machine to begin an operation from a known, predetermined position.
