ABSTRACT It is proposed to provide on vehicles with sliding doors an arrangement which effects opening or closing of the said doors by mechanical means operated by an electro- motor which may be controlled by the driver of the vehicle. The arrangement comprises an endless chain meshing with a sprocket rotated by the electromotor. The chain is connected to the door. Activating the electromotor to one direction would result the opening of the door while activating to the other direction would close the door. The vertical edge of the door is provided with sensing means to avoid the slamming of the door on a person unintentionally.
