- 16 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Automatic transmission fluids containing the mono- and di- esters of C12-C50 aliphatic hydrocarbon- substituted succinic acids or anhydrides, such as octa- decenyl succinic anhydride, with thio-bis-alkanols, such as dithiodiethanol or thiodiethanol, as friction modifiers and corrosion inhibitors. Compositions containing the zinc or nickel salts of said esters are also useful as anti-oxidants in ATF.
